Project Description
Preparation & Practice
Naturopathic physicians are trained as primary care practitioners at accredited naturopathic medical schools. Like conventional medical schools, these rigorous four-year doctoral programs provide a solid foundation in the basic medical sciences and in conventional diagnostic and treatment methods. Extensive coursework in naturopathic therapeutic approaches is combined with supervised, outpatient clinical training in comprehensive integrated health care.
Since 1996, Naturopathic physicians have been licensed to practice in Vermont. In order to obtain a license, Naturopathic physicians must graduate from an accredited naturopathic medical school, pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations, and meet regular continuing medical education requirements.
